Transform Your Android Tablet or Phone into a Victron GX Display

If you're like many Victron users, you're probably like to compulsively check in on your system now and again from your phone, computer or a peak at the GX touchscreen.

Well, it just got a lot easier to check in (and with far less friction). It's now possible to turn a new or existing Android phone or tablet into a dedicated Victron GX touch display screen through your local network.

Watch the video below for set up instructions and refer to the Android GX Wifi Display manual to get the QR code needed to download the app.

For many of us, our GX device is installed in a hard-to-reach place (a buried compartment in a van, a cabinet inside a boat, or the utility room of our house). The ability to turn the tablet or phone in your junk drawer into a full-time Victron display is an incredibly low-cost and simple way to monitor and control a Victron GX device from wherever is most convenient for you.

In fact, it’s better than using a GX Touch 50 or 70—offering the same touch control functionality and settings access, but with a larger screen, no scrolling to find and open the right app, and no extra wiring beyond a charging cable. It’s also a practical solution for those who would prefer to have more than one display within view for ease of monitoring.

The required Victron app can be installed on any Android device running version 8.0 or higher, and connects to the GX device over the same Wifi network.

The Android device requires a factory reset before setup and after installing the app, the device converts to a fully dedicated GX display—it won't be available for other functions or other apps (sorry kids, no more Candy Crush!). The device will remain so until another factory reset is pushed.
