We are committed to Victron Energy and a limited number of manufacturers (such as Pylontech, Hatz, and Cegasa) whose products integrate beautifully with Victron equipment. Why the focus on Victron? Because they're the best you can buy in the independent electric power, energy storage, and remote monitoring markets. Hands-down.

As founder of Intelligent Controls, Aaron Hanson supports the Sales & Support team by accelerating learning curves, navigating new design challenges, and expanding the technical capabilities of both the team and our customers. 

With a background in engineering and small-business entrepreneurship, Aaron listens to customers' ideas, appreciates what they're trying to achieve, and immediately adds value. "I grew up in Montana. It's a small economy, and you have to be ready to learn, adapt, and often, do multiple things to survive.” Highly practical and hands-on, he knows what it takes to grow a business and the power of bringing others alongside to solve unique challenges. 

In 2020, Aaron started Intelligent Controls to focus on Victron Energy—the product line he had discovered while selling off-grid power systems to homeowners across Montana, Idaho, and Alaska. “Working with Victron, I can offer my customers exactly what they need to make them competitive in their market. It's not a specialized product made for one type of customer. It's also very technical, which allowed us to add value and solve customer problems in ways they didn’t expect. Many Victron distributors specialize in one area, like RVs or boats. We’ve never embraced that model. By staying diverse, we’re constantly learning and expanding into new markets.”

When he's not working, Aaron enjoys sailing, hiking, and playing with his kids.

Simon Ytterbom leads the Sales & Support team at Intelligent Controls. With exhaustive experience in Victron Energy power system design, troubleshooting, and customer support, Simon has seen it all. He loves a good problem-solving challenge and generously shares what he's learned. As a marine power systems specialist, Simon enjoys working with customers who are motivated to learn and understand their power systems inside and out. "That urgency to 'get it right' makes people more thoughtful and less likely to cut corners. As a result, they build better systems.”

Born and raised in Sweden, Simon moved to the US to play college soccer while earning a bachelor's degree in business. After working for a battery distribution company in Florida and later providing customer support for MasterVolt Sweden, he discovered Victron Energy products and became captivated by their technology. When a US Sales Manager position at Victron Energy opened up, he seized it—allowing him to work full-time with the products he's most passionate about.

During his five years at Victron Energy, Simon helped lay the foundation for Victron's US distribution model. The company experienced explosive growth—a 100% increase in US sales, year after year. "That experience propelled me in many directions. I met incredible people and built a network that taught me so much. A lot of my inspiration today comes from the people at Victron and the amazing businesses I've worked with along the way." Led by his strong business acumen, intense curiosity, and genuine interest in helping others succeed, Simon brings energy and fresh perspective to every client relationship.

When he's not working, Simon enjoys hitting the gym and spending time with his kids.
