The SmartShunt is an all-in-one battery monitor, with your smartphone acting as the display. The shunt connects via Bluetooth to the VictronConnect App on your phone (or tablet). You can conveniently change settings, update firmware, view 30 days of historical data, and monitor key battery parameters such as the state of charge of your battery bank, time to go, and more. 


IP65-rated models of the SmartShunt are available in 300A, 500A, 1000A and 2000A  —ideal for installations exposed to dust or moisture. Both models are equipped with Bluetooth, a VE.Direct port and a connection that can be used for: monitoring a second battery, midpoint monitoring or a temperature sensor. 


The SmartShunt is a good alternative for a BMV battery monitor, especially for installations in small spaces where less wiring and clutter is desired.

    Lithium Battery for Trolling Motor and Health Monitoring

    Hello,

    This is long overdue, SORRY LAURA for being so late. However the boating season is starting to whine down and time to review the Victron SmartShunt 300A version. (There is a 500A model).

    I purchased this monitor because my Dakota Lithium 36v 63AH battery does not have a Bluetooth monitor or checking the battery status for my Minn Kota Ulterra 36v 112LB thrust trolling motor. The Victron SmartShunt worked extremely well to monitor the battery energy status, but also you can see the power draw while running my trolling motor. This will also adjust your remain power and give you remaining ‘TIME’ on the usage of the battery.

    This is a Bluetooth device and connects to your phone via an app that you download. Once you have made your battery size and voltage, low battery settings and maybe others of your choosing you are set to go. (Be aware when connecting there is a PUK Code on the outside of the box and the SmartShunt itself that you need at least the first time, for the software to connect to the device.

    It was nice to know how much juice my battery used while out on the water. Plus this is a waterproof model for mounting near my lithium battery on my pontoon boat.

    In my situation tolling about 1-mph I would use about 10% of the battery in 2.5 hours, so lot’s of remain power. We did go out the other day and a strong wind came up and on that one time the trolling motor had to really work. Thus we were down to 60% remaining power in just over 2 hours of time. Just nice…

    Hi Tanya, the Bluetooth connection is a low power signal to reduce the overall amount of self-usage. It doesn't have the best range, but works well when paired with a GX device, especially when using a higher powered Bluetooth receiver. If using this on its own, especially when it's inside a container that might limit it's signal, a VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle is a helpful way to extend the range and provide better placement for the BT transmission.

    Exactly what I needed for our 12v system

    The smartshunt was a perfect fit for what I was doing with our 12v system. I am now able to see the power coming in and out of the battery system.
